“An Evening with Damion Suomi & The Minor Prophets”
We have one goal at Brick & Mortar, put very simply: it is to build up this community through the arts. We opened our doors to encourage creativity, art, relationships, and to give local artists a platform to help them continue to create. Now, after only five months, we have the opportunity to achieve all of these things. This Friday night you are invited to help make art possible for a few local artists. Friday, January 28th, Brick & Mortar is hosting “An Evening with Damion Suomi & The Minor Prophets”. These guys are good friends and talented local musicians, who make music that will stir your heart and make you stomp your feet. If you aren’t familiar with their music, do yourself a favor and listen here. The evening will start at 9:00 with a screening of “Tour Documentary: Damion Sumoi & The Minor Prophets Year in Review,” highlighting the past year of life on the road, followed by a Q&A session. The band will also perform an intimate set of their new record “Go, and Sell All of Your Things” with stories and discussion about the new album concept. Attendees will also snag a 3-song CD of unreleased recordings and have the opportunity for their portrait to be featured in the band’s next music video. If that’s not enough reason to come, two pieces of art by Atlanta based artist Chris Hamer will be auctioned off from our current exhibition “Mad Men” and attendees will have the opportunity to snag some free clothing by event sponsor, Conforti. Now this is the very important piece of information: admission is donation based only. Why, you might ask? First, we want to give you all the opportunity to freely support these artists. And, second, the hard truth is last week as the band prepared to head out on a month long tour with Murder by Death, and The Builders & the Butchers, their transmission on their van broke. This $2800 inconvenience makes it almost impossible for these guys to have enough money to go on tour. We want Friday night to be an opportunity for our community to fill a need and for you to help create art. Doors open at 9:00pm Show at 9:30pmAdmission: DonationClick here for more information about Damion Suomi & The Minor Prophet’s February tour dates.
